Fun with Gigi and Pop!

It has been a long time since I posted but we have been BUSY!! Last Wednesday, Kirk left for a golf trip so McCoy and I decided we wanted to go to El Dorado and visit Gigi and Pop! We had so much fun! McCoy had his 2nd wine and cheese get together and loved having everyone ooh and aah over him.

He also loved...

Taking a bath in their big tub!

Hanging with Aunt Te-Te (or biting her face!)

Playing with toys!

Eating oranges!

Gigi and Pop drove us back to NWA on Friday night and spent the weekend. Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market and got some gorgeous tulips. It was a little chilly but McCoy loved checking out the dogs and having people say how cute he is!

And that night we had a big first...I went to Tulsa to spend the night and Gigi and Pop spent the night with McCoy!! I missed him so much but had lots of fun celebrating Lauren's birthday. And Gigi and Pop made sure to send me pictures on my cell phone regularly! I would hope that McCoy missed me but I'm pretty sure he was having too much fun! He was very sad that Gigi and Pop had to leave on Sunday!

Happy Birthday Lauren!

Leanne, The Birthday Girl, Joanna, me, and Carissa

I also have some BIG NEWS!!! One of my best friends, Leanne, is expecting her first baby!!! She is due December 12! I am so excited for her and Hunter and can't wait to find out if McCoy will be getting a new friend or girlfriend! Congratulations!

Feeding Frenzy

When McCoy eats dinner, it's very hard to get him to focus. He likes to look out the windows, check out Sophie, bang on his highchair, grab on to the spoon and throw it around, or blow raspberries. I'm normally the one feeding him, so I've gotten pretty used to this and manage to keep him pretty clean (not all the time, just most).
Well, last night I went to the gym, so Kirk was in charge of dinner.
This is what I came home to...

Love the big clump of green beans in his eyebrow!! Apparently, he had grabbed the spoon and smeared it everywhere!! It must just have been the excitement of daddy serving dinner! McCoy wants daddy to serve dinner every night!

Here are some cute pictures of McCoy playing today. He's in a wonderful mood considering that he has not napped at all! I guess him and Sophie are having way too much fun!

Weddings, Baseball, and A Mohawk!

Kirk and I have had a very busy weekend doing grown-up things! Friday night, a friend of mine from high school got married. We had a great time visiting with friends I hadn't seen in awhile! And of course, the usual suspects were there...

Me, Leanne, and Lauren (Missed you, Joanna!)

Lauren and Daniel

Kirk and me

Does my dress look familiar?? Yes, I wore it to the last wedding I went to but this was a different group of people...please don't tell anyone! :)
Saturday night we went to the Naturals game with Daniel and Lauren. We had lots of fun, but it was freezing! The whole time we were there the Naturals didn't score a run but we were very entertained by Jake the Diamond Dog! He's a golden retriever who has his own special doghouse on the field. He takes water to the umpires during their breaks and also played honorary bat dog for one inning!

Honorary Bat Dog

Waiting while the umpire takes a sip...

Moving on to the next one!

How cute is that?? And after the game, you can meet him and even get a paw print autograph! I definitely plan to do that at some point...for McCoy, of course!

The mascot is a sasquatch (sp?). Kind of different but it is Arkansas!!

Strike the Sasquatch

Another friend of our's from high school plays for the Naturals! Cody started last night so it was fun to see him in action!

Cody's on first base

Like I said, we were freezing and it's the middle of April! I had Kirk go get me a sweatshirt from the gift shop!! We had a lot of fun and can't wait to go to a game when it's warm so we can take McCoy!

Loving my new sweatshirt!

Cuddling for warmth!

Turtle Man

Of course, I can't go a whole post without putting up some pictures of McCoy since this is his blog! Saturday Kirk decided McCoy needed a new hairstyle. I think he looks adorable!

Thanks to Dig and MeMe for all the babysitting they did for us this weekend!!

Six Month Check-Up

Today we went to McCoy's six month check-up and we learned that he is a BIG boy! We already knew he was fairly big for his age, but now we are sure that he is REALLY big for his age!

He weighs 18 lbs 14 oz which is in the 80th percentile for boys his age. At his last appt he was in the 75th. I can't remember the exact measurements of his head but it was also in the 80th percentile!! As for length, he was 28 1/2 inches which is OVER the 97th percentile! Dr. Ball told us that he is the height of the average 11 month old! Kirk and I are in complete shock that we have such a BIG child!

After hearing his shocking measurements, the rest of the appt went great. He laughed when I laid him down on the scale. I guess he might have been looking at the shock on my face! I guess we'll wait for his 9 month appt to see if he keeps up this crazy growth! In the meantime, Kirk and I will be wondering where he gets it from!

Happy Six Months, McCoy!!

Today McCoy is six months old!! Our sweet little boy is 1/2 a year!!! Seriously! It is absolutely amazing how much he has changed in six months. I'm not going to say this is my favorite stage because if it makes sense every stage has been my favorite and I think all the ones after this will be my favorite, too! Every stage has been completely different and so wonderful! He is so amazing and he does something new everyday to make me laugh.
Here are a few things that we want to remember about McCoy:
1. He has become so observant. He looks around at everything and just takes it all in. Sometimes it's hard for me to get his attention because something else has caught his eye.
2. He loves to be tickled on his belly and under his arms! He raises his arms over his head and laughs so hard! I love hearing his adorable laugh! I can't believe we haven't gotten it on video yet but as soon as we do I will post it.
3. When you lay him on his stomach, he immediately rolls over onto his back. He hates being on his stomach.
4. He loves his vegetables, oatmeal cereal, bananas in his fresh food feeder, and Mum Mums! Dinnertime is so much fun!
5. He likes to make toot noises and blow raspberries. He thinks this is so funny! He especially likes it when you do it back to him. The other night at dinner, every time I put some food in his mouth he would blow so you can imagine the HUGE mess we had!
6. He is getting closer to reaching for people. If he's in his activity center and he wants out, he will raise his arms to the side for you to pick him up. I love when he does this so I'm going to be very excited when he actually reaches for me!
7. He grabs for everything! He loves to grab onto my earrings and hair. We can no longer hold him in our laps while we eat because he tries to grab plates and cups too.
8. When he's taking a bottle and getting drowsy he likes to reach is hand up and stick it on your mouth, especially if you're talking. I'm guessing he wants me to be quiet...
9. He loves to sit up but does not like to fall back! I don't know if it scares him or if it really hurts but I feel awful for him. I've learned my lesson to start putting a pillow behind him!
10. He loves Sophie! Whenever she walks by or comes near him, he tries to grab her. If she licks him, he smiles really big!
11. He goes to bed around 7:30 and wakes up at 6:00 or 7:00. Preferably 7:00...but mostly 6:00!
12. I think his favorite color is blue!! I know you probably think I'm crazy but we were playing with some toys today and I kept giving him options of red, green, blue, yellow, or purple and no matter what hand it was in or what color it was with, he chose blue. I also noticed that he preferred red over green!! I'll let you know in a few years if this is for real!

Playing with his blue toy!

I know that there are a ton more things I could write down. I'm probably going to keep thinking of them so I will add as I remember!

Kirk and I are having so much fun with him and are loving how much his personality has popped out! We are so blessed to have such a happy, laid-back little boy! We can not get enough of him!! We love you, McCoy!!

Tomorrow is his six month check-up so I'll fill you in on his percentiles!

Perfect Weather, Perfect Weekend!

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous! The weather was perfect and I was so excited to get McCoy outside. The only bad part was that I didn't get enough pictures!!
Saturday McCoy and I went for a walk in Wilson Park with Joanna. McCoy loved looking at all the people and getting lots of lovin' from Joanna!
Sunday was family day! After church, we went and ate at Mimi's and then walked around the promenade. Daddy needed some golf shorts and McCoy needed a new hat! Don't worry, I found a few things for myself at Gap on SALE!!! Afterwards, we came home and Kirk washed the cars while McCoy and I sat in the yard and played.

Looking good in his new hat!

It was so bright, he needed his shades!

Sophie was excited to get outside too and she even had a friend waiting for her. Our neighbor's dog, Leo, loves to hang out in our yard so he was in on the fun, too!

Leo checking out his new buddy!

You can tell that McCoy is not even phased by Leo because he constantly has Sophie and Henry sniffing around him!! He will definitely be an animal lover!

I hope everyone else enjoyed the gorgeous weekend!! Let's hope it stays this way!!!

April Showers

Since it has been raining ALL week, McCoy and I have been staying inside and keeping dry! We have had lots of fun playing with his toys and working on some new tricks.
He is now tall enough for his feet to reach the ground in his jumperoo (this happened overnight, literally) and he loves it!

"You should try this, Mom!!"

Last weekend he developed a new facial expression. Not sure where it came from but he does it all the time!! He'll do it and then start smiling, so he either thinks it's very funny or he's extremely proud of himself...probably a little bit of both!

We did get out for a little bit Monday night in the torrential downpour to go eat with Dig, MeMe, Owen, and Anna Grace. We had lots of fun at Tim's Pizza!

I know McCoy is in his Valentine's day shirt...that's Kirk's doing!!

And for the big news...McCoy is sitting up!! He just started today!!! He's been able to sit propped up for a while now but never on his own. So today we were playing on the floor and I was sitting behind him with a toy in front of him. I started noticing he really didn't need me, so I moved...

And then I moved his toy...

And he was sitting all by himself!! He sat like this for a few minutes before toppling over and getting a little upset but he got over it quickly! Yeah for McCoy!!!

I think this weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny! We're definitely looking forward to heading outside for playtime!!
