Swim Lessons

This past week McCoy started swim lessons at FAC! He loved it! He thinks the best part is being able to hang out with his friend, Addison. Getting a picture with these two together was impossible but it just shows how much fun they are having!

"Hey, come back!"

"Sit by me!"

Addison strikes a pose!

Almost a first kiss but McCoy is more into teething on her nose!

Photo shoot is done!

On Wednesday night we went to the Naturals game with Kasey and Jordan. McCoy thought Kasey was so much fun! She got all of his smiles! He also got a free hat when we walked in the door!

9 Month Check-Up

Last Tuesday we went to McCoy's 9 month check-up. I'm obviously way behind on posting but better late than never!! Everything looked great and Dr. Ball said McCoy is healthy as can be! YEAH!!! He weighed 22 lbs which is in the 80th percentile and was 29 1/2 inches long which is in the 90th percentile. I don't remember the exact measurements of his head but it is in the 98th percentile. So basically they told us what we already knew...he's a big boy!! If he grows a 1/2 of inch more he will literally be half my height!!
I haven't been very good at posting this week but just for a catch up...
Last weekend we were in Newport for a golf tournament. What a surprise! Our summer consists of golf tournaments!!! I was awful at taking pictures but I did get one cute one of my cousin Kate and McCoy. Kate is about 7 yrs old and she loves playing with him. She was with us in Seaside and McCoy just loves her!!

And on Monday we started taking swim lessons and McCoy loves it! His friend Addison is taking lessons with him so we're having lots of fun. I'll have to get some pictures of them next time but I keep forgetting my camera!

Crawling...Stage 1

For a few weeks now McCoy has been getting frustrated with not being able to reach things that aren't right by him. He started lunging forward to get to them and eventually face planting. But in the last few days he's started getting to all fours before he lands on his belly. I feel bad for him because he tries this over and over all day long! He's always got one leg that he can't find a place for but I know he'll get it soon!

I got some video of him after his morning nap trying it out.

Popsicles on the Patio

We have had a great weekend but it has gone by too fast! We started it off Friday with popsicles on the deck! I've found these great sugar-free, real fruit popsicles at the store that McCoy loves! I normally hold it for him and give him licks but this time I just decided to let him go for it! He loved it! Even though I knew it was going to be a huge mess for both of us, it was definitely worth it! He only got a few licks in between waving it around and showing it off before the whole thing had melted down his arm.

"Look at what I've got!"

"Oh, so this is what you're supposed to do!"

"What? Is there something on my face?"

Afterwards, we came inside for a drink and a little bath out of his sippy cup. He loves to wave it around and dump it in his lap, but I think he got a few drinks in.

Saturday afternoon we drove out to the lake. Kirk's parents' have a boat and some friends of their's have a lakehouse that they let us use.

The first thing we did was head down to the dock for some fishing. Or Kirk fished while McCoy and I watched.

"What's for dinner, Dad?"

Captain McCoy

After hanging out on the dock, we definitely needed to cool off, so we went to the pool for a quick swim. On the way to the lake, we realized we'd forgotten McCoy's crab that he normally uses so we stopped by the store to pick up a new float toy. We picked up this motorboat which plays "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" when you press on the top. He loved it!!

And then it was dinnertime, so we headed back to the lakehouse. Kirk made salmon and corn on the grill and it was yummy! After dinner, McCoy found a new favorite toy. MAGAZINES!! Who would've thought these could be so fun?!

"Mom, can we get some of these at home??"

After an eventful day, we were worn out! We had such a great weekend and hate to see it come to an end!

McCoy is 9 months old!!!

Excited about being 9 months!

Today our baby boy is 9 months old!!! He is still a really happy baby and we enjoy every minute with him. He has changed so much in the past month and his personality just pops out more and more everyday! My 8 month post was pretty short so I have a lot to add to this one!

1. He FINALLY rolled from his back to his stomach!!! YEAH FOR McCOY! He first did it the Sunday after we got back from Seaside and he hasn't stopped since. He always rolls to his left and hasn't quite worked out going to the right yet. I am so excited that he has mastered this skill but it has definitely made diaper changing a bit of a challenge...

2. He loves attention!! I think this has a lot to do with him being our only child and Kirk and I just staring at him to see what he does next. If no one is looking at him, he'll scream or do his motorboat and then smile when you look over at him.

3. Speaking of motorboat, he does it all the time!!!! He loves for people to do it back to him, too. That keeps him entertained for awhile. He also likes to motorboat whenever we're trying to get him to fall asleep. I've got to get some video of this.

"Why smile when I can motorboat???"

4. He jabbers all the time! Da-da is still his favorite thing to say but I'm working hard on Mama!! He'll look at you and hold out his hand or a toy and just start talking. I know he's got some very important thoughts going on in that head that he's just trying to get out. I also think I've heard him say "Hi" a couple of times.

5. He reaches for everything and he's quick! Whatever he can get his hands on he wants it. It's funny how I feel like he already knows what's not his and that's what he wants. He loves the remote control (like his daddy), cell phones, and telephones.

"Give me that camera!"

6. We're working on several tricks right now. When he's in the mood, he can high-five, but sometimes he'd rather just grab your hand and eat it. We're also working on hugs and blowing kisses. Gigi swears he gave her a kiss the other day! And sometimes he'll wave bye-bye and hi. Every once in a while he'll get his hand turned around and wave bye-bye to himself! So cute!

7. He's not crawling yet but I think he's really close! He'll lean forward to grab something out of reach and get to one knee but seems to get the other leg stuck underneath himself. I'm sure he'll figure it out soon and then I won't be able to turn my back for a second. The good thing is he's starting to get a little more frustrated when he can't reach something so that's giving him the incentive to want to crawl.

8. When he sees somebody new, he stares at them wide-eyed for a little bit until he gets warmed up. But once he does, he's a little ham! He'll do his motorboat, laugh, act shy, and clap for them.

9. He loves trying new foods. We've moved on to Level 3 Organic foods and he's loved everything. I think his least favorite was chicken and stars. He loves Cheerios, Goldfish, all the Gerber graduates toddler snacks, any type of fruit (bananas, pineapple, strawberry...), sweet potatoes, mac-n-cheese, and green beans. He also loves water!

10. When he gets really excited, he pants! It's the cutest thing! He bounces up a down, too.

11. He still takes two naps a day. One in the morning (his best nap) and one in the afternoon (sometimes not very long). He takes these in his crib, but he still sleeps in our room at night. We have at least moved him out of his cradle and into a pack-n-play and he really likes the extra room!

12. He loves to laugh! He laughs all the time! When someone talks to him, when he's playing with a toy, when he eats, whenever!!

13. Oh, and one last thing, he's started getting jealous! Last weekend we were hanging out with Kirk's family and Owen (my nephew) who's 4 and his friend, Landon, kept giving me hugs. The first time they did it, McCoy started screaming! I thought maybe it was a fluke but everytime they would hug me after that McCoy would get mad. I felt pretty special!!!

I know that's a little long but I just want to be able to remember all of this stuff. He's got such a fun personality and keeps Kirk and I laughing everyday!! We love you so much, sweet baby!

Lisa called a couple of weeks ago to let me know our pictures were ready for viewing but we have been out of town so I just got to go see them last Friday. She did an amazing job and made our ordering so easy!
You can go here and view all of the pictures we had to choose from. We had a hard time picking but I can't wait for them to come in!! Let us know what you think!
