Dancing With the Stars of NWA

Last night Kirk and I went with the Wares' and the Karnes' to a fundraiser for the Children's Museum in Bentonville. We had so much fun! There was a silent and live auction and a dance competition with some local celebrities. Kirk and I bid on a photo session for McCoy at the silent auction and won!! YEAH!

The Karnes and Us

I completely forgot to take pictures at the fundraiser but Amanda got some cute ones. I can't wait for the museum to open!! It's going to be a great place to take kids!

While we were away...

Pop and Gigi were here to play!

McCoy was so excited that they came to hang out with him. Mom got here Tuesday and we have had such a fun week. Once again, we've been spoiled with excellent dinners and Kirk is already telling me what I need to cook for dinner soon! I think McCoy's favorite part of the week was when Gigi pulled him around in his wagon. I can't wait until the weather gets warm and sunny! I'm going to love taking the wagon outside!!

Where to next, Gigi??

Happy Easter!

McCoy had a great 1st Easter!! Before we went to church this morning he checked out his Easter basket. He got some books, a sock monkey, some toys, a new outfit, and some Mum Mums. As you can see, he's loving all his new stuff!

"I really like this Easter Bunny guy!"

After McCoy checked out his gifts, we headed to church. How crazy is it that I had him bundled up in his winter coat when it was 65 degrees yesterday?? Anyways, he decided to take a little snooze on the way there and I thought this pic was too cute not to show...

All cuddled up!
Good thing he got that little snooze in because for the rest of the day he did not nap! He would fall asleep for a minute in the car and then he'd wake up whenever we stopped. Lots of activity today!

After church we went to Dig and MeMe's and the Easter Bunny had left him some things over there, too! He was so excited and this definitely woke him up! One thing he got that was really cute was a painted onesie and burp cloth. Linda's friend has just started a business and does some really cute things. Here is what she did for McCoy...

If anyone is interested in talking to her email me and I will get her info for you.

For lunch, we went to the Country Club and met up with Kyle and Jessica and Mama T. McCoy was so excited to see more fun people! Do you now understand how a nap was just not going to happen??

Our Little Family

"How can I get one of these scruffy things on my face, Uncle Kyle?"

Mama T, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Kyle, MeMe, Dig, and Us!
Stuffed and Happy!!

We had a great time visiting with everyone at lunch! McCoy was so exhausted after his big day that he wanted to go to bed at 7:00!!! I think Mommy might be going to bed a little early, too!! I hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!!

McCoy Gets Some "Great" Lovin'

This past weekend, we went to Newport (Northeast Arkansas) for a good friend's wedding. McCoy was so excited because this is where two of his great grandmothers live and he had never been to visit them before!
We left Thursday night so we would have an extra long weekend to visit. Nanny was so excited to see us when we got there!!

Nanny was so excited to see McCoy on Friday. He loved watching basketball on her big TV!

"Who do you think is going to win?"

Why am I calling two different women the same thing?? That's what they both go by! However, to distinguish between the two, we call them White Nanny and Black Nanny because of they're hair color. Weird, I know, but that's what they've always gone by and it works!
Anyways, McCoy met lots of extended family and I am so disappointed that I didn't get more pictures. He did lots of smiling and laughing for everyone! Pop and Gigi were there, too, so there wasn't a minute when he wasn't being held or talked to!!

"Pop, you so crazy!!"
(That's for you, Dad!)

Saturday night all the big kids went to the wedding and White Nanny was the babysitter. She was dying for us to get out of the house!!

The girls before the wedding

The wedding ceremony was great! It was so personable and the music was phenomenal! We had a blast at the reception!

Mandy and James...the happy couple!

I ran into a blog buddy at the reception! Rachel V. was there with her husband, Richard. Come to find out, Richard is from Newport and he went to school with Mandy, the bride! We have known Mandy for forever!! Our families lived next door to each other before we moved to South Arkansas (I was only six months old) and growing up we always took family vacations together! What a small world! I can't believe I didn't get a picture!!

We had such a great weekend and we were so glad that McCoy got to spend some time with his great grandmothers!! He was definitely showered with some "great" love!!!

Foot In Mouth

"Open mouth, insert foot!"

You all know you've done it...just maybe not literally!! Maybe he has a future as an olympic gymnast??

Five Months of Fun!

Today McCoy is 5 months old!! Kirk and I were just saying today how fast it has gone. It is absolutely crazy to think that 5 months and 1 day ago, he wasn't here yet!! It just feels like he has been here forever!
We are having so much fun with McCoy at this stage. He is such a happy little guy!
Here are a few things we want to remember:
1. He loves to talk and squeal, LOUDLY! He talks all the time and when he gets really excited, he will squeal. However, sometimes he gets so excited he just can't figure out what to do that he opens his mouth and nothing can come out but a pant! It's so cute!
2. He loves to stand up (with us holding him of course)! Friday I was over at Joanna's house and she had him in her lap and he refused to sit! His whole body went rigid and he was just pushing out with his legs. So funny!
3. He rolls over...a little bit. He can roll from tummy to back, but he will not do it very often (I'm wondering if this is because he's a big baby??). He hates being on his stomach so sometimes he will just plop his head down and cry but every once in a while he will surprise us and roll over. We get very excited!!
4. He laughs when you tickle him! This has got to be my favorite thing!! I love hearing his little laugh but he only gives it out sparingly! I can't wait until he laughs all the time!
5. He can sit up in his stroller and his high chair. He can't sit on the ground without support but he loves being in his high chair and stroller. It gives him a new view of the world! He can also sit (for about 5 seconds) if he puts his hands in front of him on the ground. But, it's for a VERY short time and then he topples over!

6. He eats for the last time at 7:30 and then goes to bed at 8:00. This is such a difference from when we were keeping him up until 10 or 11. As for sleeping through the night, sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. We're working on that...
7. He still sleeps in our room in his cradle but he is taking naps in his room now! YEAH! This is huge because until this past week I could barely get him to take one nap a day and now he's gone to two!! Fingers crossed that we can keep that up!
8. He smiles for everyone but saves his biggest smiles for his Mommy and Daddy!!! And Kirk and I absolutely love it!

I'm sure there are so many things that I am missing but I'll add them as I remember. We're having so much fun seeing McCoy's little personality pop out more and more everyday! He is such an amazing little guy! We love you McCoy!!!

Crazy Weather and Green Beans

This weather is absolutely insane!! Yesterday we woke up to snow and all the schools were closed and today it was 60 degrees and absolutely gorgeous outside! Since we never know what tomorrow might be like, we decided to take advantage of the day and take McCoy for a stroll. He had a great time and looked totally cool doing it!

Back off ladies! I'm taken!

I got his sunglasses at Target today and was planning to put them in his Easter basket but we decided to get them out early. So glad we did, he looked adorable!!

After his stroll, it was time for some dinner. His fine cuisine consisted of oatmeal cereal and some green beans. We tried out green beans for the first time last night and he was not too excited at all.

"What are you two trying to stick in my mouth this time??"

"Is there nothing better to eat in this house??"

But tonight was a different story! I guess that stroll had him feeling like a new man and ready for anything!

"Bring on the veggies!"

By looking at his face you might think he didn't actually eat any, but I promise, he did!! We're planning to try out some new veggies tomorrow...possibly squash. YUMMY!

Boys and Their Toys

This week McCoy and I decided to change things up and try out some new toys!! I decided to put his activity center and his jumperoo together. He loves the activity center but is not quite ready for the jumperoo. He needs to be a little bit heavier for his feet to touch the ground.

"Where have you been hiding this thing, Mom??"

Every night, once McCoy is in bed, I clear up the mess we have made in the den. Toys everywhere!! I always laugh because it is amazing how many toys this (almost) 5 month old has!!

"Next station, please!!"
McCoy has also picked up some new tricks this week. He loves to raise his feet up in the air and flop over to the side. He does this a lot during his diaper changes too which is making that a little bit more difficult these days! When he's laying on his activity mat, he can also turn himself completely around with this move. The first time I left the room and came back to find him completely turned around I was a little startled!

And I must thank all you girls who recommended oatmeal cereal. He loves it!!!

"Here Mom, let me show you how to do it!"

"What? Do I have something on my face??"
