Our Summer Garden

At our new house, there was a small space in the backyard that was already set up for a garden. We've never had one before, but decided to put it to use and hope that at least one of us (probably Kirk), would have a green thumb. Once we got everything moved in and set up, we started to work on it.
McCoy was a big help! He wanted to help daddy with putting up the border and digging in the dirt. Whenever Kirk would pick up a shovel or other tool, McCoy would say "I try" and imitate his daddy. Sharing tools with McCoy might've made Kirk's work take a little longer, but I don't think he minded at all!

Watching and learning...

After all their hard work, McCoy was thirsty!! While Kirk was watering the garden, McCoy decided he needed to take over the water hose and quench his thirst. He thinks water out of the hose is much better than the normal way!

Ahhhhh!!

Fingers crossed that are garden is a success. We've planted strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, and I think there's some more but I can't remember!

Two Men and a Toddler Moving Co.

While we were moving a couple of weeks ago, McCoy decided he wanted to help out, too. He loved it when we would hand him something to carry and even though it wasn't very heavy, he would make a grunting noise and say "it's heavy". It was so cute!
His biggest moving job was helping Pop and Daddy move the buffet into our kitchen. He did lots of grunting during this big task! I don't know if they would've been able to do it without him!!

Goodbye Crib, Hello Big Boy Bed!

Our baby boy is growing up!! We recently sold our house and moved so we decided this would be the perfect time to transition McCoy into a big boy bed. We were both really nervous about how he would react to all the changes...new house, new room, new bed. He is a creature of habit!!! However, there was no need to worry! He's been in his big boy bed for a week and a half now and he loves it! I always lay down with him for a little bit until he calms down and before he falls asleep, I'll get up and he falls asleep on his own. It took him about a week to realize that he could get out on his own when he woke up but now he's got it down. I love being in the kitchen in the morning and hearing his door open and then seeing him come around the corner with a big smile on his face! Oh, and don't forget, the blanket and pillow are always in tow!! We're so proud of him but it's a little bittersweet! I knew it was something I had to do but sometimes I just want to put him back in his crib and pretend like he's still my little baby boy! Who am I kidding??? He will always be my baby boy!!!!

Here are some pics of his last time to wake up in his crib, his first night in his big boy bed, and one of his first naps.

Always smiley when he wakes up!

Making sure he gets a few last jumps in!

Getting Pop and Gigi in on the jump action!

First night in the new bed! Happy with his new room!

All this space means more flips!

Sweet baby boy taking a nap...love that face!

I'll post pictures of his new room as soon as it's done. We're really happy with the way it's turning out!!

McCoy's First Real Golf Clubs!!

Last week Pop and Gigi came in town to help us move and Pop had a big surprise for McCoy. He brought McCoy his very first set of real golf clubs. We've had several (too many to count) sets of plastic ones but Pop thought McCoy was ready to start practicing with the real thing. Also, he normally swings left-handed and all the plastic ones are right-handed. McCoy was so excited to try out his new clubs!!
He did a great job on his first few swings but it has taken him awhile to get used to the weight of his clubs. I think that we'll be using these clubs a lot this summer!! McCoy says, "Thanks, Pop!!"

Pop showed McCoy how he can carry them on his back!

"Great idea, Pop! When's our first tournament??"

Addressing the ball...

And he swings...

Video to come later of his full out swing!! We're still perfecting it!

Farm Friends

Several weeks ago (I'm way behind...trying to catch up), we met the Deweese's at a farm animal event on campus that we thought the boys would love. There were all kinds of animals there that you could pet and hold. McCoy and Holden LOVE animals so they had so much fun. I think the parents had lots of fun, too!!
There were cows, goats, bunny rabbits, horses, chickens, and pigs...to name a few. I think McCoy's favorite were the horses and the baby chicks.

He loved being able to hold a baby chick...

...and giving it a kiss!

He and Holden also liked petting the pigs...

....but McCoy wanted to make sure everyone was quiet so they could sleep!

And I'm pretty sure the boys wanted to stay at the horses for the longest amount of time. I can't decide if McCoy liked petting them or if he liked being able to climb the fence. Probably a little bit of both!!

After petting all the farm animals, we loaded up on the hand sanitizer, and went to US Pizza for a fun dinner! The boys had such a great time, that we definitely plan to make this an annual event!
