Potty Training...Post #1

We have started potty training! So far, pull-ups and big boy underwear have been bought, but there has been no actual usage of the potty. He will sometimes tell us when he has gone "pee-pee", but only after the fact...I guess that's a start. I named this post #1 because I have a feeling there will be several posts about this topic.

My main reason for blogging about it is that I would LOVE some tips from anyone who has potty-trained an active little boy who doesn't mind being wet or dirty. If you have no tips, just stay tuned and enjoy the interesting and messy posts that are sure to come!!

Things have changed...

Last weekend, we were in El Dorado visiting my parents. I walked in the kitchen to find McCoy sitting on the table and taking apart the centerpiece. The most surprising part is that Gigi was in the room watching and allowing this to happen. He'd also already thrown the majority of the limes and lemons from the bowl all over the floor. I'm pretty sure that I was not allowed to do this growing up...

Blanket Tent

A couple of weekends ago, Kirk and McCoy made a tent with quilts and several pieces of furniture. McCoy had so much fun playing and watching his Saturday morning cartoons under it!

Daddy's Shadow

Every time Kirk mows, McCoy grabs his bubble mower and follows him the whole time! I think he's just checking to make sure daddy gets every spot and I think Kirk is wishing that McCoy's mower actually worked...

***I noticed in the last few posts that Kirk hasn't been wearing a shirt...don't know what the deal is. I promise he wears a shirt most of the time!

Backyard "Pool"

Due to the extremely hot weather we have had this summer, Kirk and I decided we needed some type of "pool" in our backyard for McCoy (and sometimes Mommy and Daddy) to cool off in while playing outside. Kirk found this fun little pool at the grocery store and McCoy is loving it! We are actually on pool #2 since we've been using it so much!

Swim Ranch

The second week in June, McCoy took swim lessons at the Swim Ranch. This is his 2nd year to take there and this year was much better than last year!! He cried most of the week last year. I think he might have been happy on the last day. This year, he cried most of the first day but then after that he did great! The only two things that made him mad this year were floating on his back and having to be patient and wait for his turn! He LOVED his teacher, Ms. Kim, so he kept wanting to swim to her. I was so thankful we had such a great week!

Swimming with Ms. Kim

Demonstrating climb-out and climb-in

Clapping for himself...love it!

Kick, kick, kick!

Big jump

Once again, he's so proud of himself!!

Least favorite part...notice how relaxed everyone else is...

The aftermath. Not happy!

Sweet boy!

McCoy and Ms. Kim. He passed!

Relaxing with his bestie, Addison, after class

McCoy and I had such a fun week! He loved playing in the water with Addison and I have to admit, these two were definitely the wildest, but they had so much fun! The lessons also helped McCoy get used to the water and he is LOVING going to the pool this year. We have definitely been spending most of our days in the water!!
