Woooo Pig Sooie!!!!

This morning, Kirk, McCoy, and I met some friends on campus to do a little tailgating before the Alabama game. Even though we didn't have tickets for the game, we still thought it would be fun to go visit and then head home to watch the game on TV.
We had yummy food from Penguin Ed's and McCoy's favorite, cookies!! We all had lots of fun! McCoy and Kirk loved playing bag-o and tossing the football with the rest of the guys! And the girls had fun getting to chat!

All the girls

Lauren, Leanne, me, Joanna, and Emily

Our family

Relaxing and enjoying his cookie! Yummy!

Some of the guys (minus Kirk and Hunter)

Daniel, Aaron, Matt, and Richy

At one point, Lauren took control of the camera and was having Richy and Emily pose like they were taking senior pics. Looks like the tree was a popular prop...you all know you have a senior pic with one of these exact poses ;) We were laughing so hard!

McCoy practiced a lot with the football, throwing and kicking. I think he's a natural!!

Set it up and KICK!

We got home just in time for the game! It's halftime now and the Hogs are leading 17-7!! Woohoo!!! Fingers crossed that we keep it up and WIN!! Go Hogs!!

Playdate in the Park

Wednesday afternoon, McCoy and I met MeMe, Owen, and Anna Grace at Gulley park for a playdate. It was a little hot but the kids didn't seem to mind at all. They had so much fun!!
They started out playing in the sandbox and on the slides but then moved the fun down to the creek. I'm not quite sure how it all spiraled out of control but they all ended up with shoes off, knee-deep in the creek!!! And at one point McCoy was almost waist deep! They were having so much fun we had a hard time getting them to leave. But MeMe came through with some treats and we were able to head home...soaking wet! McCoy always has such a fun time hanging out with his cousins!

Quick Beach Trip

Last week, my parents had a work "thing" in Sandestin, so McCoy and I decided that we should tag along...just to make sure they had fun! It was a great time to go to the beach since it's not a peak time. It was a very quick trip since we were only there two full days and three nights. We made sure to pack everything in and Mom and I probably set a record for us by making the quickest trip EVER to the outlet mall...I think we were there for an hour! But no worries, we still managed to do some damage!
This was McCoy's 3rd trip to the beach. The past two times he has not been a fan of the ocean and would rather be at the pool. So the first day, we hung out at the pool by our condo. He had lots of fun swimming and being the only kid in the baby pool. The next day we braved the beach and SURPRISE...he LOVED it!! We couldn't get him to leave! The only problem at the beach was the water...it was so green and full of seaweed but it didn't bother McCoy one bit. I am so happy that he's now a fan of the beach and can't wait for our trip next year! Our only regret was that we didn't get him to the beach on the first day!

Relaxing and enjoying his vacation

Every night McCoy wanted to do 3 things (in this order): eat "pink" ice cream, ride the carousel (it had to be in one of the cars, not a horse), and throw "monies" in the fountain. By the end of trip, we were all out of "monies"!

Delicious!

We had so much fun and are so glad that Pop and Gigi let us tag along!!!

Big Boy Room

I mentioned a few months ago that McCoy had a new big boy room, but I never posted pictures. I was waiting for a lamp that we ordered to come in and it FINALLY did!! The room is not completely finished and there are still some things I would like to do to it, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out! I went with a sports theme because that is what McCoy LOVES!! The walls are a very neutral color and are going to stay that way. We're in a rent house so no painting, but I'm actually really happy with them the way they are. I would also like to get a few more throw pillows for his bed, but don't tell my husband because he would tell me that's girly ;) And at some point I would like to get a headboard but for now Mickey Mantle is doing the trick!
Since I'm sure the suspense is just killing you ;), I will quit talking and show the pictures...

Love the baseball lamp! Well worth the wait!

Sports and trains...what else could a little boy want??

Just Because He's Cute...

My sister-in-law took this picture while we were at the lake this weekend and sent it over to me. McCoy loves to wear sunglasses, especially when everyone else is! So glad Jessica had her camera to capture this!

Back to "School"

McCoy started his 3rd year of MDO on Tuesday. I LOVE the church he goes to and so does he! I was a little nervous about drop-off because he's been home with me all summer, but he did great! When I told him I was leaving, he gave me a hug and kiss and started playing. I was a little disappointed when I picked him up though because he had a couple of potty accidents:( I was actually really surprised but I'm hoping it was just the first day excitement and tomorrow will be better! We've already talked about it so I'm sure it will be;) I'm just so glad that he is excited to go and enjoys it!
Here are some first day of school pics. He was in a funny mood and giving me lots of poses...

Cheesing it up!

Sweet boy!

MDO Open House

On Tuesday, the church where McCoy goes to MDO had an open house. It was a chance for the kids to meet their teachers and some of the other kids in their class. This is McCoy's third year, so lots of his friends are back and he was excited to see them.
He has also moved up to the bigger class and I was excited that one of his besties, Cy, has moved up with him!!
School starts next Tuesday and I think we are both looking forward to it! I LOVE spending the summers with him but I can tell he's getting a little bored and is ready to hang with his friends!
First day of "school" pics will be coming soon!

Potty Training...Post #3

Too cool for potty-training

I am so excited to say that McCoy has been doing GREAT with his potty training...as long as we're only talking about pee-pee! Which, we are for now, so don't even try to think about poo-poo yet ;)

The past few weeks McCoy has amazed Kirk and me with how well is he doing. He is now wearing big boy underwear unless it's naptime or nighttime. He has only had a few pee-pee accidents in the past 3 weeks. I could probably count the amount of accidents on one hand! Everyone kept telling me that potty training would change my life forever and I didn't really understand what that meant...now I do. When we leave the house these days, our potty comes with us! That's right and I'm not even embarrassed about it. McCoy has gone pee-pee in parking lots all over NWA; Target, Wal-Mart, a mexican restaurant and many others. The only small problem we have is that when he decides he's bored at a restaurant, he says he needs to go pee-pee. So, out we go to the potty and nothing happens. We head back inside and about 5 minutes later, he has to go again. Still nothing. However, we take him everytime because we've said "no" before and he had an accident. I felt awful because it was totally our fault!

Another change in our life is that I'm constantly asking him if he needs to go or watching him for signs. I've actually had to abandon my cart in a check-out line to take him to the bathroom. People are very understanding, especially mamas, so it's no big deal.

It is so funny how excited Kirk and I get when he does go potty. Since we're excited, McCoy gets really excited too and starts asking for his treat. Sometimes I wonder if he'll be 16 and I'll still be giving him treats after he goes potty... I know, I know. I realize that eventually it won't be as exciting, but I just love how proud of himself he is!

Celebrating a pee-pee!!

Now...on to the dreaded topic that is poo-poo... I mentioned that he still wears pull-ups for his naps and bedtime. So, normally I can go in his room about 10 minutes after I've laid him down for a nap and know that he's been holding it and waiting for that moment. However, if he needs to go while he's in his big boy underwear, he will hide from me. A lot of times he will leave the room or go behind the table where I can't get to him in time. If I do get to him in time and put him on the potty real fast, I have to hold him down while he goes or he will try to jump up. I've heard this is pretty typical with boys so I'm not really stressing too much about it. However, I would LOVE tips and suggestions!

Even though we have this little poo-poo issue, we're still thrilled with his progress! I can't believe he's getting to be such a big boy. I am so proud of him but he's growing up way too fast and it's breaking my heart!!
