McCoy's New Security Blanket

Most kids have a blanket or stuffed animal that they love to sleep with. McCoy has a turquoise blanket that he always has to have! However, for the past week, he has added something else he has to have when sleeping...a basketball from the Alamo!
We have a video monitor so I can see him holding it on his chest until he falls asleep. If he wakes up in the night, he'll feel around until he finds it. Also, Kirk took him to bed the other night and he started crying. When Kirk asked him what he needed, he said "ball".
I don't know why he has gotten so attached to this ball! And I can't really understand why anyone would want to cuddle up with a basketball at night, but whatever makes him happy! Kirk is very excited about it though. He told me that Tiger Woods probably slept with a golf club when he was 2!

San Antonio

Last Friday, McCoy and I joined Gigi and Pop for a long weekend in San Antonio. Poor Pop was there for work, but Gigi, McCoy, and I spent all of our time playing!
I was nervous at the start of our trip because this was McCoy's 2nd plane ride but the first time for me to take him without Kirk. The hardest part was getting through security while getting both pairs of our shoes off and on, getting bags on the belt, jewelry off, coats off...and on and on, but McCoy did great and made it very easy! I had lots of people tell me what a good traveler he was!
Anyways, on to San Antonio! I had never been before and was really looking forward to it. San Antonio is a great town with lots to do! We ate lots of Mexican food on the riverwalk, visited the Alamo, shopped at El Mercado (Mom and I's favorite!) and La Villita, and did LOTS of walking. By the end of the trip, Mom and I pretty much knew all of downtown San Antonio! It's a great place to visit and we can't wait to go back! Thanks Gigi and Pop!

McCoy at Mi Tierra Cafe

At Mi Tierra, the waiter brought McCoy cookies before lunch because he was having a little meltdown! I think this was McCoy's favorite place!

View of El Mercado...our fave shopping destination!

Band that was playing at El Mercado...they were great!

McCoy and Gigi (she didn't realize she was in the picture) at the Alamo

Thirsty boy at Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest Cafe for lunch! Pop was working :(

View from our table

We had never been to a Rainforest Cafe before, but they're really neat! McCoy's fave was the fish tank!

It's Mr. Frog's brother, Mr Frog!

McCoy loved these guys! Guess who came home with a smaller version?? Thanks Gigi!

Sitting in the tub! YEAH!

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but McCoy hasn't sat down in the bathtub in about 8 months! He absolutely refuses! But while we were in San Antonio, he sat down and stayed that way through a whole bath! I was so excited!

As usual, there were several times I forgot my camera in the hotel and missed out on some great photo ops:( I guess that means we'll have to go back soon to get some better pictures!

JumpZone

Since we haven't been going outside as much, we've been looking for indoor activities to wear a busy little boy out! We were so excited when Harry asked McCoy to come play with him at JumpZone. We had never been before and were anxious to try it out!
McCoy is very cautious, which can be great at times but not at others. So, he wasn't the biggest fan of JZ but he did make it down a few slides.

Notice the look of sheer terror...

I have to thank Amanda for all the pics because in order to get McCoy on any of the slides I had to climb up with him! Since I was up there, I also had to try out the slides. Luckily, there are no pics of me but I imagine my face was a little bit like McCoy's! The slides were FAST!

Unlike McCoy, Harry loved it and was a pro at climbing up and going down! He was so good with trying to get McCoy to go down the slides with him!

We also got another visit with sweet Georgia Kelley! She looked so cute in all her pink!

We're so glad the Ware's introduced us to JZ! Maybe next time McCoy will be ready to try everything out!

He's Got Moves!

McCoy loves to listen to music and dance. He's got lots of moves like jumping up and down, kicking his leg, and turning in a circle. We got some video a few weeks ago. It's not the best, so we're going to try to catch it on tape some more. In the first video, Kirk even had to get under the coffee table so McCoy wouldn't notice him. The things we do for a little bit of video or a picture...

Enjoy!

McCoy and Mr. Frog

As most loyal readers of my blog know, Mr. Frog has been with us since McCoy was born. He has a spot in McCoy's room that he normally stays in and I consider him part of the decorations. However, a few weeks ago McCoy decided that Mr. Frog was his new bestie and wanted to bring him downstairs. Once he got downstairs, McCoy insisted that Mr. Frog stay with him at all times and do everything that he did. It was very cute but a little tiring to have to move Mr. Frog whenever McCoy moved! Here are some pics from their morning together.

Mr. Frog sat at McCoy's table and had some juice,

then they watched some cartoons together,

and had some breakfast!

Who knew Mr. Frog liked froot loops???

A Pirate's Halloween for McCoy

McCoy's 3rd Halloween was definitely a big success! I don't know who had more fun, McCoy or me and Kirk. I could spend hours watching McCoy laugh and smile and that's what he did the whole night!
After McCoy's nap, we dressed him in his costume and headed over to his MeMe and Dig's to show him off. Uncle Kyle and Aunt Jessica came over, too. He was loving all the attention, but wasn't big on pictures, so I bribed him with a sucker to get him to stand still! I know...bad mom...but I really wanted at least one picture of our family!
MeMe and Dig live in the perfect neighborhood for trick-or-treating so we decided to take him to a few houses over there. I figured he would be worn out and bored with it after about 5. I was completely wrong!!! He had the best time! Kirk or I walked up to the door with him at the first couple of houses but then he was ready to go on his own. Honestly, I think we were kind of slowing him down! He knew to say trick-or-treat but sometimes didn't wait until someone opened the door and if it took a long time for someone to come, he tried to go in himself...and once, someone's door was unlocked!! Also, if they showed him their whole bowl of candy and let him grab on his own, he really didn't understand the concept of just one. I think if he could have, he would've put all the candy in his bag, one piece at a time. And after he was done at one house, he took off running for the next!
We ended up going by several houses and walked a long ways! He was a trooper the whole time and didn't want to be carried or let anyone carry his treat bag. At the end, I think everybody was worn out! My only regret is that I didn't bring my video camera :( McCoy getting so excited was adorable! I know one pirate who loves Halloween!

McCoy with Aunt Jessica and Uncle Kyle

"You don't have to give the big guy any candy....I'll take his share!"

"So all I have to do is say trick or treat and they give me candy? What's not to love?"

"Right in my bag...don't be stingy!"

"Do you follow the only one rule?"

"Wooohooo! Don't want to waste a minute!"

"If my mom's not watching, feel free to add a few more pieces!"

"Hold on to your hats!"

"Trick-or-treating can wear a pirate out!"

Kirk is an expert pumpkin carver...at least at our house, he is. He even carved a skull and crossbones pumpkin to go with McCoy's costume! We had to get a few pics by it before the costume came off!

A happy, candy-stuffed pirate!
