He Smiles!

This post has been a long time coming since we saw his first smile on November 8. But, they were quick and you never knew when it was coming so I never was ready with the camera. Now, he's a smiling machine!!

Here's the story:
On the morning of Nov. 8, Gigi was holding him and she told me that he just smiled. I told her it was probably gas pains. Then we sat him down in his bouncy seat and I started talking to him. He did it again!! There was no mistaking it for a gas pain because it was huge! I was so excited!! From then on, my mission was to get him to smile. He probably thought I was incredibly annoying!!

His smile goes through a few phases. It starts off with a closed mouth and his lips turned up-then, he sticks his tongue out between his lips-and last his whole mouth opens and sometimes he'll let out a little squeal. It's absolutely adorable and the most gorgeous thing in the world to me!! So basically, I stand in front of him all day with a camera waiting to snap the picture at the perfect time.

Here's a few that I've gotten so far...

I just can't get enough of seeing him smile! He definitely wins Best Smile in my book!!! I'm sure there will be plenty more of these to come!!

Best Thanksgiving Ever!

This Thanksgiving was much more fun than my other 24!! Although we did the same thing we've done the past 3 years (my parents come to town and we all go eat at Doug and Linda's), this one was more special since McCoy was here. And he is also what I am most thankful for this year!

Also, my grandmother and Aunt ReRe came to spend a few days and meet their first great grandson and first great nephew!! Nanny got here late Wednesday night so he was already asleep. She had to wait until the next morning to give him some lovin!! She thought he was worth the wait and loved on him the whole time she was here!

Nanny's first time to meet McCoy-Thursday morning

Nanny and Aunt ReRe before they left Friday...come back soon!

That afternoon we went over to Kirk's parents for lunch. There was lots of excellent food and we all had a blast hanging out and chatting. McCoy slept through his whole first Thanksgiving dinner!! But he looked good doing it in his adorable brown bear outfit.

Here's McCoy...all ready to go to his first Thanksgiving feast!

Hanging with Pop

Aunt Sara and Aunt Jessica loving on McCoy

Anna Grace loved the pumpkin bars Aunt Jessica made...YUM!

Kirk and Owen stayed busy making the tallest Lego tower ever!!

McCoy's awake!! Everyone was so excited, especially MeMe!

We had lots of fun spending time with our wonderful families!! We were stuffed after it was all over!

I meant to get a Thanksgiving picture of our family but forget until McCoy already has his pajamas on...I love Christmas PJs!!

Random stuff from the week...

McCoy has been wearing a different brand of diapers from what I normally put him in. Someone gave them to us and I just didn't want to waste them. However, I'm sticking to my normal brand from now on...way too outfit changes!!! At one point, Kirk had to give him a quick bath in the sink. It made for a good picture though!

Look at that adorable belly!

Kirk wanted to make sure McCoy didn't get cold on Saturday morning...think he's pretty warm!!!

And last, but definitely not least, Fayetteville wins again!!! Today Fayetteville HS played Harber HS in the state championship football game (Harber is Springdale's other HS). As you know, Kirk and I are rivals when it comes to Fayetteville/Springdale. Go Purple Dogs!! So, Kirk and Dad went to pick up pizza Saturday night and this is what Kirk came home to...

Me, McCoy and mom decked out in all of my old Fayetteville gear...Kirk quickly took off McCoy's FHS top!!

I hope everyone else has had a wonderful Thanksgiving week! I know that we have and look forward to many more!

Tulsa Marathon

Saturday morning, Kirk, McCoy, and I packed up the car and headed to Tulsa for McCoy's first road trip! Kirk was going to run his 3rd marathon on Sunday and McCoy was so excited about watching his first marathon!

Are we there yet??

We stayed with Lauren and Daniel and had so much fun. Saturday night Lauren made some wonderful spaghetti for the guys to carb up on and she also made the best brownies I have ever tasted! Carissa and Mike, some friends of their's that live up the street also came over and brought their kids, Easton and Emmie. The kids are adorable!! We had so much fun laughing at Easton and oohing and aahing over Emmie.

Emmie (14 mths) and Easton (2 1/2)

The next morning we got up early to get ready for the run! I had to get up EXTRA early to pack up all the stuff needed to travel with a newborn. It was amazing all the stuff we had to bring. Lauren and Daniel probably thought we were moving in!

McCoy giving Kirk a pep talk before we headed out

We got to the marathon just in time for the guys to head to the start line. It was good that it wasn't too warm, but it did end up getting a little humid.

Kirk stretching out

Daniel and Kirk ready to go!

Kirk's parents and Kyle and Jessica came down to shop on Saturday for Kyle's birthday so they were also there. We were able to find them in the big crowd after the race started.

After the race started, Lauren, McCoy, and I hopped in the car so we could meet the boys at several spots to give them water and energy gel. What supportive wives we are!!

McCoy anxiously awaiting to see Daddy and Daniel...

Looking good boys!
Only 22.2 more miles left!!

Halfway done and still smiling!

After this we headed back to the finish to watch them come in...

Daniel at the finish...still smiling!

Kirk finishing up...no smile here...
The reason for no smile:
At mile 15, Kirk stepped into a drain in the street and twisted his right ankle. It was already messed up anyways so for the last 11.2 miles he was in serious pain. He probably should have dropped off but he's too competitive for that. He's in serious pain today and he's got an x-ray scheduled so I will keep you updated on what happens. Hopefully, it's just a slight sprain...

But after the race, both him and Daniel were all smiles!

McCoy did a great job the whole day. It was also my first time to try out his sling and he loved it. Lauren and I have done this before but it was quite an adventure with a newborn. Lots more fun!!

After the marathon, we met up with some of Daniel's friends from work who ran the relay and ate lunch. Everyone was starving!!

McCoy loves Auntie Lauren!

Then, our little family headed home. McCoy and Kirk slept in the back after a long day. McCoy and I are both very proud of Daddy for his big finish!! Just keeping our fingers crossed that his ankle and foot are ok!!

Thanks Lauren and Daniel for letting us stay with you!! Don't know about Kirk and Daniel, but Lauren, McCoy and I can't wait for the next marathon!

5 Weeks Already?

I'm incredibly late on this but Tuesday McCoy hit his 5 week mark! He just gets cuter and more fun everyday! He's incredibly alert and just loves to talk. We're just having so much fun with him!
Here is our weekly frog pic...

5 weeks

1 week

I can't believe how big he has gotten! It's funny to see him laying there at one week with his eyes closed. He's gotten to where he gets in one good nap a day and then he's up. He's still a very content baby, though. That's one thing that hasn't changed.

He loves getting out of the house and running errands with me. Wednesday we met Aunt Jessica for lunch and he was an angel! He slept through most of it though but I had lots of fun!

Time is flying by and I just want to pause it! But, I'm also excited to see what happens in his next stage of life. Stay tuned!

7 Random Things

I got tagged by Kelly to list 7 random things about myself. I'll either seem extremely weird or extremely boring!

Here's the rules: Link to the person that tagged you.
Share 7 random or weird facts about yourself. Tag 7 people with their links at the end of the post. Then, scout them out and let them know they've been tagged (Kelly didn't do this so neither will I...I'll just see how often yall check my blog!)

Here we go...
1. I can fit my whole fist in my mouth. It's true! I actually listed that as an interesting fact about me at a cheerleading tryout and they found it very cool! If you don't believe me, come visit and I will show you.
2. I've broken two bones on my body and they've both been in my face. I broke my nose in the third grade falling off the monkey bars and I broke my jaw in the 5th grade in a bike wreck. I haven't ridden one since!
3. I hate blueberries! I think it must be the texture. They just gross me out! I don't even want to talk about it... Moving on...
4. I changed my major 4 times my freshman year in college. It started out as interior design-the day of orientation I changed it to communications-a few weeks after school started I changed it to marketing-then changed it back to interior design-then I went to finance. I still feel that 18 is entirely too young to pick your career!!
5. My guilty pleasure is gossip magazines (US Weekly and In Touch). It's really sad that I find reading these things so interesting. I love them so much that Kirk got sick of me buying them every week that now he gets me a subscription every year for Christmas. However, I have seen him reading them too....
6. I love to mix cereals together. I'll be eating something healthy like Raisin Bran but then I'll add just a little bit of Cinnamon Toast Crunch or something. That way I'm eating healthy, with just a touch of bad.
7. I love to wear heels! I'm only 5' tall so anything that adds a little height is good but I love them anyways. Flat shoes seem more uncomfortable to me than heels do.

Hope you enjoyed it! It just shows that I'm a little dull and weird!!
I tag Jessica, Amanda, Katie, Kim, and Lauren.
Have fun girls!

Daddy Gets A Bath!

Saturday night Kirk and I were giving McCoy a bath. Kirk's job is to get the water ready while I get McCoy undressed. Well, for some reason, Kirk went ahead and undressed McCoy first and then stuck him in his lap while he filled up the tub...BIG MISTAKE!!!

McCoy had just eaten and he normally pees about 10 minutes afterward (kind of strange that I know that). He decided that daddy needed a bath, too!! And boy did he get one! It was kind of like McCoy had been saving up just for that moment!

Just one of the perks of daddyhood!

"I feel much better! How about you, dad?"

We learned our lesson...keep him covered!

Pajama time

Can't get enough of that face!!!

Of course, I got a big kick out of the whole thing! I know we have many more incidents like this to come and I can't wait!!

Happy One Month Birthday, Sweet Baby

Tuesday was McCoy's one month birthday! It's amazing how you get to where you can't remember a time without them! He has grown and changed so much in this past month. He is so alert and keeps those bright blue eyes wide open. He loves to be held, which is perfectly fine with his mommy! He loves running errands and riding in the car. And the bouncy seat is still the best invention ever!!

Kirk and I are having so much fun being his parents. This is definitely the best and most important thing we have ever done! We feel so blessed to have him in our lives and don't know what we would do without him!!!

Since Sophie has her head in the corner of the picture I thought I'd go into how she's doing. She has been wonderful! We knew she would, though. She hates for him to cry and always goes to check on him. In the middle of the night, if McCoy makes any kind of noise, I'll wake up to see Sophie standing by the cradle looking at me like, "What can I do?". She loves to lick him, so we have to keep an eye on that because her licks kind of turn into baths!

Here are some random pics from yesterday that I thought were cute...of course, I think that about all of them!! I might just have to start posting random blogs with cute pictures!

Football Weekend

Saturday McCoy went to his first (of many) tailgate parties. He was definitely the cutest guy there and got the most attention! He had so much fun and looked adorable in his new Razorback outfit.

Looking cute in his Razorback gear!

We have some friends that live right next to the stadium so we hung out in their yard, had some great BBQ, and played Bag-O. Also, Gigi's friend, Bev, drove from Hot Springs to see McCoy. She was in love with his "juicy lips".

McCoy and Bev

Once the game started, we came home to catch it all on TV. Luckily, we won!! McCoy sat on the couch and watched the game with Pop and Daddy. He had so much fun!

All my boys!
After the game was over, McCoy was exhausted! He had a very big day and had so much fun. He loves for people to ooh and aah over him!

Finally, peace and quiet!!!

Today was another day full of football. He watched the Colts and Patriots game and loved every minute, except that he was rooting for the Colts. He really does watch TV whenever we have football on. He must take after his daddy!

All the boys in "Man Land"...that's what Kirk calls it.

"Please don't bother me while I'm watching football!"

He had another great weekend and is ready for some much needed rest! We did find out though that he definitely loves football and looks adorable in red!
