March of the Penguin

Only 6 weeks left to go!! As of today, I am 34 weeks along!! I can't believe we are getting so close.
Last week I experienced a few new things that I was lucky to not have to deal with until now. The first was that my hips started hurting...BAD! At my doctor's appt, I was sure he was going to tell me I was going into labor any minute and put me on bed rest! However, he said it is perfectly normal and it just means my hips are starting to spread apart, turn out a little bit, and make room for McCoy. I might have overreacted a little bit but it hurt!! Good news is that they feel a lot better this week!
That leads me into my next symptom.... Did you see where I mentioned that my hips are turning out?? Well, apparently, this is what causes the waddle...or what I like to call "March of the Penguin".

If I'm wearing black and white (which I do...A LOT) I look just like these guys! It gets worse towards the end of the day. Now I have to admit that before I was pregnant and in early pregnancy I told myself that I would not waddle. BUT, I have now come to realize that you have to really think about it if you want to walk normal!! And apparently, like my doctor said, there is a medical reason for it so I can't help it!!
My last new symptom that I've been very lucky to not have until now and still don't have very often is heartburn. But I have had it a few times and the Tums work great!
All in all, I feel like I've been pretty lucky. McCoy's movements are starting to feel a lot different. Instead of big kicks I just feel him pressing a foot or hand against me to stretch out. He likes to play too, where I'll push back at him and he'll press a little harder. Pretty neat! I guess he's kind of running out of room! I've also started to notice hiccups!
Ok, so here it is...the 6 week pic...

My belly is definitely getting bigger and harder! I think I might not be able to wear some of my tops anymore!

And of course, I couldn't let Kirk go a week without having to paint or put something together, so this week's chore was putting the crib together, which he did a great job! I only had to make him look at the instructions two or three times.

Getting it all put together...

Finished!

We're still waiting on our bedding to come in which will hopefully be here in the next couple of weeks. Basically that's our last big thing to complete the room besides getting it all decorated. I can't wait until it's completely done!

Sorry this has been a rambling post but there is just so much I want to be able to remember. I'll try to keep it shorter next time! Probably...

Congratulations Kate and Brad!

Saturday night a friend of mine from high school got married! It was great to go to the wedding because I hadn't seen Kate in a long time. She went to college in Kansas and she is now a lawyer in Chicago. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and she looked radiant! I feel awful that I didn't get a picture of her but she was very very busy! However, I did get to visit with lots of friends that I had not seen in a long time and catch up. Everyone had a blast!

Joanna, Leanne, Schlesier, Lauren, Me, and Ellen

Schlesier (that's her last name) was my cheerleading coach all through junior high and high school. She was tough but we all loved her! None of us had seen her in a couple of years so we were so excited that she came to the wedding. Lots of my memories from high school have her in them along with these other girls!

Kirk and I

We're just enjoying our last wedding we'll ever go to before McCoy is here. Ok, did anybody else do that? Everything I do, I always think this will be my last time to do this before I'm a mommy! Kind of strange, but it makes me realize how close we are. Can't wait!!

Ok, back to the wedding...

Daniel (Lauren's husband) and Kirk

Daniel and Kirk became friends through me and Lauren but now they are marathon buddies! They're next one is scheduled for November in Tulsa.

Me, Joanna, Emily, Leanne, Lauren, Ellen, and Jennifer

All high school friends! We always have a blast at weddings! I wasn't partaking in the dancing this time, but they all did and did an excellent job of it.

We had such a fun night, but headed home a little early so I'm sure I missed a lot more fun! I was so glad to see everyone and catch up! Congratulations Kate and Brad!

Stay Tuned: Pregnancy update later this week! The waddle has begun...

Owen's First Soccer Game

Saturday morning Kirk and I headed out to the soccer field to watch Owen play in his first soccer game!! The weather had cooled down quite a bit and it started raining, but not until the very end. We had the best time watching all the little kids run around and play. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. They were just too cute!!!

Owen going in for a big kick!!

Their coach giving a pep talk (Owen's #9)

Taking a rest before his next turn

Better get the shoe tied!

Landon and Owen eating some donuts after the game.

Landon is Owen's best buddy and they have a blast playing together! Every time they were on the field together, they were more into tackling each other rather than playing soccer. It was so funny!

We had so much fun and can't wait until next time. Owen's going to be a great little soccer player! Go Jaguars!!

Good Friends, Good Food, Good Fun!!!

Leanne, Me, Joanna, Lauren, Lindsey

Last night, Kirk and I went to eat at Bordino's with some of my VERY VERY good friends and their husbands. The food and company were both excellent!! We always have a blast when we're together.

Just a little background on these girls:

First I must say, shame on me for not getting their pictures up here sooner!!! We have all gone to school together since junior high and Leanne, Joanna, and Lauren cheered with me through junior high and high school. Leanne and I were roommates our freshman year in college...and we're still best friends! I would not have made it through break-ups, jr high or high school, all the drama (well it was at the time), or college without these girls by my side. We all still live here, except for Lauren who lives in Tulsa, which is still close...although, they could move back...HINT HINT! Another plus is, that all of our husbands get along great! They have lots in common...which they better because when we all get together we kind of resort back to the jr high thing where we make them sit at one end of the table and us at the other so we can talk! I know that we will all be friends for life!

I was talking to Leanne last night as to why I didn't have any pictures of them on my blog since we spend so much time together. We decided it was because we just take it for granted and never really make a big deal when we get together. Normally, it's just us shopping or sitting around talking but always having a blast! Well, that is going to change!! I am going to make sure that we start taking more pictures!!

Love you girls and next time, we're going to try the valet!

89th PGA Championship

This past Tuesday Kirk took a trip to Tulsa to watch the PGA Championship practice round. He was in heaven getting to see all the golfers and getting lots of autographs and pictures. Here are some of his favorites.

Tiger Woods

Tom Lehman

Davis Love III

Sergio Garcia

I was not surprised at all on Wednesday when he went and hit range balls for some extra practice. I think his new dream is to be on the PGA tour...or he's at least hoping that McCoy will be!

On a different subject, I mentioned that my friend Katie was in town from Boston. She had to leave Tuesday morning but Monday night a few of us girls got together for dinner. We had a great time catching up and laughing!

Kathryn, Katie, me, Kasey, and Cody.

I met all these girls my freshman year in college and we stayed great friends throughout. Kathryn is pregnant and due 3 weeks after me. She's also having a little boy and is name is Conner. He will be such a cutie! Kasey is married to one of Kirk's best friends from high school! We had lots of fun and hated for the night to end since it meant Katie was going home. However, she's going to have to come visit lots more now that she's got two little babies to come see! Miss you already, Katie!!

Caution: Grandparents at Work!

Since we are in the single digits as far as weeks go, we decided it was time to get McCoy's nursery painted. So, Saturday and Sunday Gigi, Pop, and Dig all worked hard to help Kirk get all the painting done.
After painting the room, Dig and Pop worked hard on the shelves and end table.
Gigi gets started on the polka dots...
As she finishes up, Kirk gets started on the stripes.
.The finished product!!
Gigi crocheted the rug from fabric strips. Isn't she so crafty??
We are thrilled with the way the painting turned out! It's so bright and we know McCoy will love it! Kirk and I were so thankful for all the help from the grandparents. It never would've gotten done so quickly without them!!!
We've still got to paint the crib and get our changing table in there but we'll keep updating as it starts to come together. However, I must say that we're off to a great start!!!!
Thanks to Dig, Pop, and Gigi for all their hard work!!!!

Come Back Soon!!!!

Saturday night Kirk and I had the Ware's and the Fowler's over for pizza. My parent's were also in town for the shower, so they joined in on the fun! We had a blast playing with Harry, eating pizza, and just catching up. Mom and Dad definitely loved practicing as Gigi and Pop with Harry and Harry loved them!

Harry loved hanging out with his daddy's high school buddies and hearing lots of stories from these two!

Amanda, Katie, and I just met through our husbands but we've become great friends. So glad Kirk's friends married cool girls!!
Harry loved crawling in the grass and staring at the dogs.
And he had lots of fun eating MumMums and hanging out with McCoy's Gigi!
Last, but definitely not least, Harry smoked his first cigar....TOTALLY KIDDING!! But we all got a big kick out of this!
We always have such a good time when we get together with this crowd! Can't wait to do it again soon!!!!

McCoy's First Shower

Saturday McCoy Samuel had his first shower. It was given by several wonderful women from Springdale and they did a great job! Everything looked gorgeous and we all had a blast. I cannot even begin to tell you how many adorable things we got! The list goes on and on!

The hostesses were Amanda, Sandy Ware, Kasey Karnes, Trudy Karnes, Cindy Bradford, Marshawn Whorton, and Debby Price (who had to go before we had a chance for this pic). These girls are all definitely hostesses with the mostesses!

I had fun seeing everyone, but I had a very special visitor there! My best friend from college, Katie Harvell, was able to make the trip down from Boston to visit everyone and come to the shower. Since we live so far away and stay so busy, we only get to see each other about once a year. I was so excited that she picked this weekend to come! She even brought McCoy a special Boston Red Sox outfit so he can come visit and go to a game!

My parents also came in town this weekend and I made sure to keep them busy the whole time they were here. (I'll be posting about that later) I was so glad to have my mom and sister at the shower. They loved checking out all of my new stuff!!!

My second very special guest was Katie. Her and her husband, Brian drove in from Benton for the shower. I haven't seen her in over a year so I was sooooo excited that they were able to come. Her and Amanda were dying to hold on to the belly. These two crack me up! Also, in this picture you can see about half of the things that we got! There's a ton and that is only half!

We are so blessed to have so many people that love baby McCoy! He is one lucky little boy! Having this shower made everything seem so much closer...only 9 more weeks left til his debut! Next post to come this afternoon...with pics of our in progress nursery!!!!
