Chile Pepper and Safari Weekend

We had a great weekend! The weather was perfect so we spent most of it outside.
Saturday was the Chile Pepper 10K in Fayetteville. Kirk ran in it again this year, so McCoy and I went to watch. Our friend, Daniel, also ran so Lauren was there for us to hang out with.
On a side note, now that McCoy is a year old I always think about what he was like at this time last year. He was 4 days old during the Chile Pepper. I was so proud of Kirk for running with such a young baby and basically no sleep!!! His time was better this year, though. It's amazing what a little sleep can do for you!!!

So proud of Daddy!

After that, Lauren, McCoy, and I headed home for a quick change and then we met Emily and Lindsey at Loafin' Joes. I didn't get any pictures :( but we had lots of fun!! After that we went to Lindsey's house to hang out with 2 mth old Charley. She is such a gorgeous baby and McCoy had lots of fun playing with her toys!

Sunday, Kirk decided we should go to the Gentry Drive-Thru Safari. Even though it is less than 20 miles from our house, neither one of us has ever been! I have a feeling we'll become regulars there because we had so much fun! McCoy loved looking out the window at all the animals. We saw tons of ostriches, baboons, deer, zebras, and camels.

After we drove through, we got out and got some bread to feed the animals. I think this was the most fun part, but unfortunately the battery died on our camera. We fed deer, a donkey, monkeys, a lemur, and some pigs. It was a blast!! I think we could've stayed for a while longer but it was time for McCoy's nap. We can't wait to go back!

On another note, for dinner tonight, McCoy had ravioli and we were a little worried that his face would be stained forever...

No worries though! It all came off in the bath...

Also, tonight before McCoy went to bed, we were playing the living room. He was holding on to the coffee table and he let go to start clapping. Normally, he leans his belly into the table to hold himself but tonight he stood all by himself for a good 15 seconds!!! He kept on doing it but, of course, as soon as we got the camera he was totally over it! Yeah for McCoy!!

I also wanted to post a picture of McCoy's new rocking chair. Amanda at Bibs and Cribs painted this for his birthday as a gift from Gigi and Pop. We got it Thursday and we absolutely love it!!! If yall have not been to Amanda's website, you have to go see it! She does amazing stuff!

My neice loves that Gentry zoo - my parents take her at least once a month it seems!

That ravoli picture is great - what a ham for the camera.

We're going to have to take Andrew to the zoo. He loves barnyard animals. I tried to feed Andrew some spaghetti o's the other night, and he shook his head no and pushed them away...the only food that he eats that isn't Gerber is cake!

Drive Thru Safari was one of our favorite places to take the boys--they loved it all! Can't believe Kirk doesn't remember going---plus he went several times on school field trips.
